Nick Panaseiko Sr.
May 14, 1946 - July 31, 2025
Nick Panaseiko Sr. passed away peacefully, with family and close friends by his side. Nick was a fighter and waged a courageous battle against Parkinson’s disease for years, until he chose to end his life on his own terms. He was predeceased by his parents, his mother Tassia (1990) and his father Kuzma Panaseiko (1998). Nick is survived by his sons, Craig Shoebottom, Jay Panaseiko and Nikolaus Panaseiko, his sister Nina Zeleney, his ex-wife Judi Smith and several nieces and nephews.
Nick was born in a refugee camp in Kassel Germany. When the war ended his family emigrated to Belgium and then on to Canada, where they settled in London, Ontario in 1951. Always a go getter, Nick began his career as a music promoter at a very young age. He put London, Ontario on the map bringing in big name groups like KISS and the Supremes. During his lengthy career in the music industry, Nick met and worked with many celebrities. His affable nature was perfect for the career he loved and lived. In 2018, Nick was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement award at the London Music Hall of Fame. Much of the memorabilia he collected over his amazing career is now located in that hall on Dundas Street in London.
Nick will be missed by his family and his close friends, who gave much of their time to help care for him through his final days. Special thanks to his son, Craig, for the care he gave Nick during his last years. A celebration of life will be held for Nick at a later date. Donations may be made to Parkinson Canada to further research.
Party on, Nick! Now there will be much more music in Heaven!
