Robert “Bob” Clayton Robbins

January 25, 1935 - November 29, 2025

It is with deep love and gratitude that the family of Robert (Bob) Clayton Robbins announces his passing on November 29, 2025, at Parkwood Veteran’s Hospital, London.

Bob was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on January 25, 1935. In 1958, after completing his studies in Accounting at Dartmouth Collegiate, he joined the Canadian Air Force as a Finance Clerk. His remarkable career spanned 44 years of service to Canada—25 years in the regular forces, 10 years in the reserves, and 9 years with the Cadets. His dedication was rare and deeply admired. Bob’s postings took him and his family across the country, including Ottawa, Vancouver, Toronto, Gypsumville, Shearwater, Winnipeg, and London. He also proudly completed two United Nations Peacekeeping tours in the Golan Heights.

In Ottawa, Bob met the love of his life, Sharon Marlene McDonald, whom he married and with whom he shared a lifetime of devotion. Together they raised four sons: Ian, Andrew, Stephen, and Christopher. Bob and Sharon celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a cruise, sparking a shared love of travel that brought them great joy in their later years.

As a younger man, Bob was a gifted athlete, excelling in softball, broomball, bowling, and curling—winning numerous championships during his military service. He was also a talented artist, with his curling cartoons published in The Sentinel, a military publication.

Above all, Bob was a family man. He was a loving father, proud grandfather of ten (Jon, Melissa, Courtney, Samantha, Michael, Josh, Matthew, Nick, Brittany, and Hayden), and delighted great-grandfather of twelve. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his greatest source of happiness in his later years.

Bob is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as his sister, Carol Weal, and brother, Kenneth Robbins. He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his service to country, his humour and artistry, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
