Germain Hétu

Germain Hétu, born August 30, 1940, in Ramore, Ontario, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 2, 2026, at University Hospital in London, Ontario, in his 86th year.

He was predeceased by his spouse, Jacqueline (Champagne), and his loving parents, Joseph and Germaine (Paiement). He was also predeceased by his sister, Thérèse Larivière; his sisters-in-law, Aline Landry (Champagne) and Helen Pilon (Champagne); and his brothers-in-law, André Larivière, Roger Boisvert, George Pilon, Maximilian Champagne, and Antonio Landry.

Germain leaves behind his children, Peter (Laura) and Natalie (Chris); his grandchildren, Aaron, Ryan, Dannika, and Nicholas; and his great-grandchildren, Warren and Denver. He is also survived by his sister, Gertrude Boisvert, and brother-in-law, Alfred Champagne.

A carpenter by trade who valued precision and excellence, Germain supported and led several industrial and institutional construction projects throughout his career in both Northern and Southwestern Ontario.

He found great enjoyment in gardening and woodworking, often spending time at his lathe crafting beautiful pieces and building furniture, with a particular appreciation for working with hardwoods. Known for his skill and resourcefulness, he could repair almost anything and was always willing to lend a hand with household projects.

Germain stayed closely connected with family and friends and was often the one to initiate regular calls to keep in touch. He will be remembered for his cheerful nature, his respect for others, and the many humorous stories he shared with those who knew him best.

Family and friends are invited to honour Germain’s life at a Funeral Service on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Northview Funeral Home, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London. A brief visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m.

A reception will follow immediately after the service, where all are welcome to gather, share memories, and spend time with the family. A private interment will follow.
