David John Jesson

July 13, 2026

The family of David John Jesson of London, Ontario announces his passing on Monday, July 13, 2026. His battle was one he couldn’t win, but he accepted the end of his life knowing it is a major part of life.

Dave is predeceased by his parents, Jack (1973) and Lori (1997) Jesson of Stratford. He is survived by his brother Gil (Lynda) Jesson of Ayr, Ontario, and his sister Kathy (Mike) Kayo of Nova Scotia. Also survived by his step siblings Sylvia, Tony, Colleen and Danny (deceased 2025), and their children, and stepdad Noel (deceased 1995). Dave leaves behind the love of his life of 54 years, Chris, and his oldest son, “The Big Guy” Trevor. Also predeceased by his youngest son, Jeff (2022) which was a great hardship in his life. It hurt him so much losing Jeff, but he guided our family through that hardship the same as many before that. Dave is also survived by four grandchildren: Jourdan, Jacob, Aubrey and Harper. He cared about them so much and they brought him so much joy. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Lindsay, who is a great mother to all of his grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held at Northview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London on Saturday, July 18, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with remembrances at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in Dave’s memory to St. Joseph’s Hospice of London.

Thanks to all my friends. See you later, Sayonara.

Dave's wonderful wit, gravelly voice and gentle demeanour are what I'll always remember most. He was deeply devoted to your family, loved fiercely and leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories that will continue to bring you comfort. It truly was an honour to know him. Sending my love and heartfelt condolences to his entire family.

I remember, during a power outage, my in-laws [80+ years] insisted on getting groceries at Foodland, as they did every Saturday. Dave and Chris walked around with them with flashlights, pencil and paper as they shopped. Chris, you and Dave have left a lasting impression of kindness in everything you do.

David we shared alot of laughs sitting in your garage. I will miss that. Even my dog Milo got excited when your garage door was open.

My condolences go out to Chris and Trevor and to the Jesson and Zabder families. Dave was really one of the good ones. Most people don't know of Dave and Chris's generosity to the Erin and Hillsburgh communities when they owned Foodland in Erin. That is how they wanted it. Many years ago the Erin Optimist Club started a blood donor clinic when one of our members was ill. Before the first clinic i was in Foodland and Dave saw me with a cart full of coffee, cookies and juice for our donors. Dave said it looks like you are going to have a party. When i told him what everything was for. Dave said well i want to help out. I thanked him and told him we would accept his generous offer at the next one. He paid for everything for a few years and when the club was flushed money i asked Dave if we could go back to paying for things. He said only if we could do it at his cost. We agreed and for many years we did a lot of business with him for the clinic and for our food tent. Since Chris and Dave moved to London i have really missed our chats when i would run into him while he was out walking Bogey. Good bye Dave. Thank you for your friendship and your generosity.

My heart goes out to you and family and know what it is like to lose a spouse, your cousin, it will not be an easy road with up and down roller coaster, but you have a fantastic family that will be there for you. Love Sue ❤️😘
