Christy Lynn Trask

December 7, 2022

At the age of 49. Peacefully at Victoria Hospital, London, on December 7, 2022. Beloved daughter of the late Rev. Douglas H. and Donna Trask; cherished sister of Mark (Lunenburg, NS) and Leanne (London); proud and most loved mother of Nicholas. Loving niece of aunts Lois, Linda, Marian, and Lillian and uncle Allan, and countless cousins. Devoted best friend to Jen Ham (Kitchener), and lovingly remembered by special goddaughters, Catrin and Arlen, and an extended circle of close friends.

Christy lived with grace, courage, dignity, and always on her own terms. She died exactly how she lived. She was an extraordinary woman who made an impact on every person she encountered, and her legacy will live on through each one she met.

Most especially, Christy lived and breathed and fought as hard as she did for her son, Nicholas. Now, all who loved his mom will rise to the occasion and show Nicholas himself that same love. He will always know how much his mom loved him, we will not ever let him forget it. He was her everything, her miracle baby, and he will be raised in that love.

She would wish us to thank the Critical Care and Trauma Centre team at Victoria Hospital, with special thanks to Natalie, her nurse who was with her in her final days. Also, thanks to her cancer care team, and Dr. Hommel, her family doctor.

In the spirit of Christy being such a bright light and cheerful, happy presence, we invite all who come to the visitation and/or funeral to wear bright, cheerful colours, if you are comfortable.

As well, as Christy was very careful about COVID-19, she would hate for her visitations or funeral service to become “super-spreader” events, and so we invite you to consider wearing a mask.

Visitation will be held at Northview Funeral Chapel and Cremation Centre, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Siloam United Church, 1240 Fanshawe Road East, London on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at the church at 12:00 p.m.  A private interment will take place at Woodland Cemetery, London.

As an expression of sympathy, those wishing to make a donation are asked to consider the London Regional Cancer Program or Siloam United Church in memory of Christy.

Christy showed much strength during her illness. I am grateful she was supported and surrounded by much love of her son Nicholas, sister Leanne, her brother Mark, best friends and Aunts and Uncles. I just noticed that Christy has the same middle name Lynn that I gave to my daughter Emma in 1989. I was not aware of the family connection with that name until now. But now Emma's middle name will have a special significance. Christy, you are among the angels now - Go now in peace. Never be afraid. God will go with you each hour of every day. Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true. Know He will guide you in all you do. Go now in love, and show you believe. Reach out to others so all the world can see. God will be there watching from above. Go now in peace, in faith, and in love.

Thinking of Christy’s family as they prepare to say goodbye tomorrow. So sorry for your pain, as you receive your friends during visitation. May her funeral service bring you a measure of comfort. Christy’s bright light shines on in Nicholas and has touched all who knew her.

My deepest condolences to Nicholas, Leanne, Mark, and the rest of Christy's Family and friends. Crit was one of the greatest gifts in my life, and one of the loves of my life. From the first moment I met Crit and Jen in a hostel in Bruges, I knew she was a special, kind, and generous soul. Our travels and time living in London, England, and then our time spent living in Ottawa are some of the fondest memories I have. Wow, what incredible times we had, traveling, white water rafting, working together at Kelsey's, playing together. She made everything feel like a fun adventure, and every place we lived feel like a home. What I remember most was how Crit made me and everyone around her feel. She had such a kind and generous soul. While our paths went in separate directions these past 20 years, I am so glad that we remained in touch from afar and that I had the opportunity to see her become such an incredible mother to Nicholas. I will forever be grateful for the time we spent together, Crit, and I will always remember you with so much love in my heart.

My wife Jen; is grieving her bestie immensely as this is such a heart-wrenching loss for all of us. Christy was an amazing mother and women whose soul will live on in everyone she knew. Here is a photo in Christy's memory - and there are so many more to come. She was a brilliant light of human kindness, care, humour and compassion to all she knew.
