Cuc Kim Thi “Maria” Tran

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Cuc Kim Thi “Maria” Tran
announces her peaceful passing on June 19, 2025, at the Parkwood Institute’s Palliative Care Unit in London, Ontario. She was 68 years old.

Born in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, Vietnam, on October 31, 1956, Cuc was the beloved eldest sibling among five: Hai Tran, Hanh Tran, Trong Tran, Phuc Tran, and Lien Tran. A strong and determined woman, Cuc courageously immigrated to Canada in 1992 with her three young children, later raising two more as a devoted single mother of five. Her children—Tessahh Tran (Mike Hasler), Ninh Tran (Cau Le), Hoang Tran, Nguyen “Mario” Tran, and Khoa Tran (Houi-Tien Meng)—were her greatest pride and joy.

Cuc’s love extended beyond her own children. She played a nurturing role in the lives of her nieces and nephews—Sarina Nguyen, Milan Nguyen, Mike Nguyen, and Julie Nguyen—and was a beloved grandmother to Kylina, Kyven, Jennifer, Leo, William, Louis, Cameron, Evylina, Zhara, Faith, Noah, Andy, Weston, and Camilla.

She will always be remembered for her extraordinary generosity, warm spirit, and especially her unmatched talent in the kitchen. Cuc’s Vietnamese cooking brought comfort and joy to everyone who tasted it. She never let anyone leave her home hungry and took great pleasure in preparing elaborate meals to bring her family together. Her food was a language of love that transcended generations, and she made every holiday and gathering unforgettable.

Visitation will be held at Northview Funeral Chapel, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London on Sunday, June 29, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. where the funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m.

Cuc was the heart of her family—steady, nurturing, and strong. Her legacy lives on in the children she raised, the family she fed, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness, resilience, and unconditional love.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
