David McLeod

May 27, 2026

With great sadness we share the passing of David William McLeod on May 27, 2026, at the age of 68. David will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Deb McLeod; his son Michael McLeod (Teagan), and daughter Melissa McLeod. Proud Papa of Harper McLeod, and another grandchild on the way. Remembered by brother Donald McLeod (Terry), sister-in-law Beth Wilson (Rudy Graf), as well as his nieces Laura Wilson (Nancy Baker), and Michele Crosby, with great nephews Cameron and Jackson Crosby. He also leaves behind extended family members, friends, and many who had the privilege of knowing him.

David was predeceased by his parents, Donald “Bud” McLeod (2004), and Betty McLeod (2000); his sister Cathy McLeod (2004); his in-laws Ted Crosby (2001), and Marjorie Crosby (2011); his brother-in-law Gary Crosby (2025); his sister-in-law Linda Crosby (2020); and his brother-in-law Brian Wilson (2000).

David enjoyed sports whether it was playing, coaching or watching. He was a proud retired Teamster who loved a drink in one hand, and a cigar in the other. Most afternoons you could catch him having coffee with the boys.

A private family service will take place at Northview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre. A celebration of David’s life will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. (Remembrances at 6:00 p.m.) at Lions Active Living Centre at Dorchester Community Centre, 2066 Dorchester Road, Dorchester. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the first responders and neighbours who helped during this difficult time.

Memorial donations in honour of David may be made to Diabetes Canada, the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre or a charity of your choice.

My sincere condolences to the family. I sat across the table from Dave many times and while we didn’t always agree we always managed to find common ground in a respectful way. I admired him for that. He was a great representative for the Teamsters and all of their members. Rest in peace Dave.

~ Dave Coleman

My deepest condolences to the McLeod family. I met David through the Teamsters, I only knew David briefly, however the impact he had when he entered a room was something I truly admired. I enjoyed his Teamster stories and the antics. A Teamster through and through! May his magestic legacy continue through the lives of those he loved so dearly. Through family, friends and acquaintances. May his love provide you strength to get through this difficult time.

My condolences to Deb and the entire McLeod family on Dave's passing. In my early years of teaching in Dorchester I had the privilege of having Dave in my classroom. I have many fond memories of sharing our love of sports and our daily kibitzing. Graham Hayhoe

One of my fondest memories of Dave was our first Christmas in July in 1979. He showed up wearing a Santa hat, red shorts, and carrying two coolers — one with beer and one with a turkey for the barbecue. From that day on, he became our official Christmas in July Santa chef, helping create years of laughter, memories, and family tradition. Dave, you were truly the best and will be deeply missed.

~ Gerry Crosby

Debbie and family. So sorry to hear about Dave. Dave and myself had a lot of fun times when we worked together downtown. We enjoyed a lot of great "eat offs" at different eateries. He had a big forceful personality and he was the perfect choice for the job he held as our Teamster voice. He made things happen. He will be missed. He was always fun to be around. Back in the day, he was a pretty good hockey as well.
