Livestream for the Celebration of Gran’t LifePeacefully with family by her side at University Hospital, on Monday, April 25, 2022, Dorothy Lena (née Reid) Spears passed away in her 71st year. Dorothy was the beloved wife of Bob for 48 years. Loving mother of Matthew Spears (Steph) and Daniel Spears (Meaghan). Adored grandmother of Allison, Carter, Ray, Alarik, Emmett, Josephine, and Edward. Also loved by her mother Lorna, her brother Bill (Elizabeth), and sister Mary. Predeceased by her father Clayton.
Dorothy was trained as a registered nurse in London and then transferred those skills raising two boys who were into skateboarding and motocross. Dorothy was a talented artist: into painting, ceramics and building dollhouses. Her artistic influences spread to friends and family alike and she was generous with her time. Dorothy loved swimming and she was a passionate cinephile. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed.
Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of Dorothy’s life will take place at a later date.

To a beautiful talented woman may you rest in peace
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we are here. Dorothy has been one of the closest and dearest friends of our entire lives together. Not many can say they have been close for 50 years but that is the case here. We have weathered some terrible storms together and have always been so much the better for it . Her strength and love have been steadfast throughout and we so greatly appreciated that. Her sense of humour, love and loyalty have been the hallmarks of a life well lived and loved and she will be forever missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the family in these times of such sorrow but the inner strength of your closely knit family will see you through these difficult times and those marvellous memories of a life well lived will endure forever. Dorothy, I miss you so much and hope you are out of all pain and in God's hands. You were a great mom to Dan and Matt and a wonderful wife and an interesting friend to me. Our life in the US and Canada was gypsy-like as we travelled with my job and mae great friends. A life well-lived my dear Dorothy. I will love you forever.

We are sending along our sincere (if somewhat) belated condolences on the loss of Dorothy. We haven’t seen or talked to Dorothy for quite a while but we certainly remember her vibrant and creative spirit.
