It is with great sadness that the family of Dorthaleen Irene Pellegatta announce her passing in her 89th year. On April 7, 2024 she slipped away peacefully after a brief illness at LHSC-UH. She will be dearly missed by the three that loved her the most, her children, Paul, Arturo and Annamaria (Bo). Loving grandma to Daniel and Anthony, and loving sister to Richard (Jennie). Predeceased by her beloved husband Arturo (2011). Dorthaleen is reunited in heaven with her parents, Mildred and William, and her loving sisters Nellie (Ted), Millie (Mike), and Mary (Ken).
Dorthaleen was hugely devoted to her family and was special to many family and friends with her loving, generous way, kind heart and subtle humor. With limited mobility as she aged she enjoyed a trip to the casino, a buffet restaurant or a competitive game of Euchre.
Our family would like to thank our mom’s doctor, Dr. Pamela Smith, for her wonderful care of mom over the last 30 years. No other doctor was so attentive, compassionate or concerned as she was. We were blessed to have her as she was definitely sent from heaven above. We would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, RTs and Father Dan in ICU and ER at UH for their care of Dorthaleen.
Visitation will be held at Northview Funeral Chapel, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The family will hold a prayer service in the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica, 196 Dufferin Avenue, on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. All are welcome to join the family for a reception at Northview following the interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Diabetes Canada.
