Edna May Main

August 12, 1928 - May 31, 2021

MAIN, Edna May – Peacefully at University Hospital, on Monday, May 31, 2021, in her 93rd year. Born in 1928 in Montreal, Edna lived through the Great Depression and World War II, surrounded by her large family of six brothers and three sisters. Edna first worked at the T. Eaton Company, where she met her beloved husband, John Main. They were married in 1947 and the following year, their son John was born. Edna and John spent their working lives together in Quebec and after Edna’s retirement in 1984, as an accounting department manager of Kraft Foods, Ltd., they moved to London, Ontario.

Edna is survived by her husband John, her son John and daughter-in-law, Susan and many nieces and nephews.

They were active members of the Legion and Huff-N-Puff Club, golfed several times a week and enjoyed bowling in the winter months. Walking was also one of their favourite pastimes.

A special thank you to Dr. Tam, the Victorian Order of Nurses, the doctors and nurses at University Hospital and especially to John and Edna’s very kind and compassionate neighbours. Edna’s vibrant personality and bright smile will be sadly missed by all.

Cremation has taken place and at Edna’s request there will be no funeral service. To leave an online condolence, please click the Tribute Wall link.

Miss Me – But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road

And the sun has set for me,

I want no rites in a gloom filled room

Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little – but not too long

And not with your head bowed low.

Remember the love that we once shared.

Miss me – but let me go.

For this is a journey that we all must take

And each must go alone.

It’s all a part of the Master’s Plan

A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart,

Go to the friends we know

And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.

Miss me – but let me go.
