Elaine Joan Fitzgerald

September 9, 2022

On Friday, September 9, 2022 in her 88th year, Elaine Joan Fitzgerald finally did it! She went home to be with Jesus! Everyone knows she’s been talking about this for years. We do not grieve as those who have no hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13). Life isn’t easy (either is family at times), but she held unwavering to her strong faith, stubborn determination and convictions. She hit some bumps along the road but always got back on her bike… literally.

Elaine was the proud Mom of Jim, Rick, Paul (Kim), Shawn (Michelle) and Annie (Les). Predeceased by her children’s father, James Fitzgerald (2021). Nana will be forever in the hearts of her Grandkids: Jocelyn, Ben, Virginia, and Jimmie; James, PJ, and Andrew; Jen, Daniel, and Jacob; Spencer, Jess, and Nolan. Proud Nana to several Great-Grandkids. Doris Shepley was Elaine’s friend for life, and stayed by her side to the very end. One day these two will be causing a ruckus in heaven like they did on earth.

Mom wanted to thank another member of our family, Dianna, for being so good to her and playing Skip-Bo on those better days in the hospital. Thank you to Les for the Starbucks and cake pops. And a special hug to our family out west… I know it was hard being so far away – thank God for the connection of the group chat. A HUGE thank you to ALL the palliative care staff at Parkwood. There are no words to express how much you meant to Mom in her final days. You were family to her, gave her the best care, the best hugs and superior spa days. You are treasured in our hearts forever.

Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Northview Funeral Chapel, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London. A graveside service and interment will take place at Woodland Cemetery on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Elaine are asked to consider The Salvation Army or St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation – Palliative Care Program.

Dear Elaine; I am sad to see you leave us but I know your physical journey is over and you are at peace. Thank you for all the love wisdom and kindness you showed to me. You always had an ear to listen and would encourage me when I chose wisdom. You knew how hard it was to be a single mom and your loving kindness was heaven sent. I always think of you kindly. Farewell! See you on the other side. Love Briggette
