Gertrudis “Tulio” Ortega

On Monday, December 6, 2021, in London, Ontario, Gertrudis “Tulio” Ortega passed away peacefully at the age of 100.  Beloved husband of 69 years to Petrona del Carmen Ortega, Tulio is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who all loved him deeply.

Whether it was through his love of music or a good joke, Tulio demonstrated a genuine ability to create happiness among people he was with.  He was a humble man who offered a wealth of knowledge to those with whom he engaged in conversation, with topics ranging from wildlife and flowers to different gardening techniques. His appreciation of life was always shown in his positive attitude and the gentle gift of expression.

Tulio’s best-loved past time during his formative years was to fish in the Lempa River in Central America. Tulio enjoyed music and singing his favourite songs which brought delight to those present. His gentle voice and kind smile will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Being kind to others was his way of life. He will be forever missed.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis – St. Martin Parish, 46 Cathcart Street, London, on Friday, December 10, 2021, at 12:00 p.m.  Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery following the service.  Masks or facial coverings will be required at all times.  Proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID -19 is not required to attend the Funeral Mass, but space is limited and registration is required.
