John Paul Lavoie
October 20, 2025
With broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of John Paul Lavoie of London, Ontario, who passed away much too young on October 20, 2025, at London Health Sciences Centre, University Hospital.
John packed a lot of life and adventures into his 56 years. He was born and raised in Pointe Claire, Quebec, son of Allan and Judith, baby brother of Diana and Jennifer. He was an avid cyclist, hockey player, skier, swimmer, and lifeguard, who dabbled at drama, fronted a band for a time, and went through a brief breakdancing phase. John attended Lambton College (Radio and Television broadcasting) and was a graduate of Humber College (Hotel and Restaurant Management) so it’s not surprising John was passionate about music and all things related to food, wine, cocktails, and craft beer. Right up to the day before his surgery, John was incredibly active. He cycled, played hockey, golf and pickleball, loved a good round of cards and belting out Karaoke tunes. He found joy in the outdoors – there was nothing he liked better than to ‘take the road less travelled’ whether he was kayaking, hiking, snowshoeing, and exploring new parts of the world with his wife or challenging himself on long rides with his cycling buddy. During his 20+ year career as a sales rep in the landscape industry across Western Ontario, he forged deep and meaningful friendships with customers and colleagues alike.
John had an infectious smile, a twinkle in his eyes, and a big laugh. He was the kindest person you could hope to meet. Warm and generous, he was always willing to help out or go the extra mile for anyone. He meant so much to so many people. Above all, John cherished family and friends and his friends that were family. He was a devoted husband, a proud Dad and a loving son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, friend, neighbour, colleague, and hockey coach.
John will be forever missed by his wife and best friend of 26 years, Kelly (Heslop) and their children, Lucas and Abigail, who were his pride and joy and what he called his greatest accomplishment. His loss is felt deeply by his sisters Diana Lavoie and Jennifer Lavoie (Pete), his brother-in-law Todd Heslop (Tracey), his niece and nephews Erika, Thomas, Trevor and Tommy, his father- and mother-in-law Don and Sharon Heslop and all of John’s cherished lifelong friends. John is predeceased by his father and mother, Allan and Judith Lavoie.
There will be a service to honour John’s life on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Northview Funeral Home,1490 Highbury Avenue North, London, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with Words of Remembrance taking place at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in John’s memory to the London Health Sciences Foundation – ICU.
If love could have saved John, he would have lived forever. Now he will live forever in the hearts of all who knew him.

I am so sad to hear of Johns passing. He was the life of of the party, always had a grin, and a story to share. Kelly, I can honestly say I have never witnessed two people love each other more than you and John, and I can't imagine what you and the kids are going through. I hope that all of the memories that you made as a family will help to ease your grief. My sincere condolences to you, Lucas, Abby and the family. Rest easy John! You will be deeply missed!
My heart hurts right know in my thoughts I love you I will always remember you ❤️
Kelly, My heartfelt condolences to you, Abby and Lucas. I always enjoyed hearing your stories about John at our lunches. You would always light up when you talked about him. It was apparent that he was your person and best friend.
This loss is crushing to all that knew John, and if you knew John you loved John. He will forever be in our hearts and will bring a smile when we think about our great times together. John and Kelly became our travel partners, partners in raising our very similar kids, corn hole partners (sorry John for always partnering you with Dean), partners in enjoying the outdoors and sharing stories on the dock with a craft beer. John has taught us all a very valuable lesson to live and love hard. We already miss your smile and your laugh.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of John’s passing. Though we had not been in touch for many years, I have such warm memories of our high school days together; his kindness, humour, and genuine friendship have always stayed with me and I think of him often. I was a witness to and partner in his dabbling in drama as well as to his "band front man" days! What a guy. My most heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this unspeakably difficult time.
