Juliette “Julie” Rheault
July 24, 2025
Juliette “Julie” Rheault (née Myre) passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025 at the age of 94.
Julie was kind, gracious and good-humoured. She enjoyed painting, knitting, sewing and volunteer work and always chuckled at a good “mom” joke.
She raised six children: Michèle, Dennis, Gerald, Louise, Francine and Josée and loved her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her passing is preceded by her husband of 65 years, Réal “Ray” Rheault.
Mom always said – who would have thought that a girl from little Cache Bay would have such an extraordinary life.
A private memorial service will be held in memory of Julie. A private interment of Julie and Ray’s ashes at New Liskeard Catholic Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Julie can be made to the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners.

Julie (Grandma), you had a quiet strength in your presence — something steady, graceful, and deeply comforting. You carried yourself with a natural warmth, and your kindness seemed to reach effortlessly into my heart. One of your paintings has traveled with me from place to place, always standing on my desk wherever I have lived. It reminds me not only of your artistic talent, but of your soul — full of light and care. You are always with me — in my thoughts, in my heart, and in all the lovely traces you left behind.
Dear Louise and Francine, I am so sorry for the loss of your dear mother. My thoughts are with you and your families at this time. May Juliette rest in peace.

It’s time for a big goodbye to a wonderful grandma 💔 The fact that she spent 94 years on the planet is an accomplishment in itself. Raising 6 kids and having 13 (I think) grandchildren is next level. Being married to my grandpa was another feat because he was a handful of a character! She really knew that she had a great life and was so grateful for everything she got to experience, and, my goodness, was she ever modest and humble about her life. She was always just amazed that she came from a tiny, French speaking part of northen Ontario and ended up living overseas and travelling the world. You could tell she could hardly believe her good fortune when she looked back on her life. She was quite a talented oil painter but never considered herself that skilled. Also quite the wordsmith, she was effortlessly witty and loved a good joke. She took pleasure in the simplest of things, a cup of tea, the shape of a cloud, the sun on her face. It was always obvious to me that she looked at the world as an artist does because she picked up on subtle little hints of beauty everywhere. My favourite memory is when she described, maybe a decade after it happened, how absolutely enthralled I was when a bottlenose dolphin came up to play in our boat’s wake. I think I was about 8 years old and that trip was my first time EVER seeing the ocean! Obviously I already obsessed with whales and dolphins at that point so she really was witnessing me living out one of my dreams. I thought it was so sweet, and touching, and characteristic, to think that there was this dolphin, mere feet away, and instead of observing this magnificent animal she was enjoying how beautiful the moment was for me. I’m so grateful that she was part of that experience and has been in my life for so long.
Aunt Julie, my godmother, was so such a kind and gentle soul! She gave me a lot of courage during trying times, mostly after my mom, her sister passed away 50 years ago. She will always be near and dear to me. My condolences to all the family, Michèle, Dennis, Gerald, Louise, Francine and Josée, thinking of you at this sad time. Sending hugs and prayers. Danielle
