It is with profound sadness that the family of Karen Fothergill announce her sudden passing on Monday, October 23, 2023, at the age of 62.
Karen leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, etched into the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 42 years, Paul and their children, Louise (Mark), Eleanor (Adam), Michael (April); along with her cherished grandchildren, Alex, Dominic, Natalija, Emma, Marlee and Kolle; her sister Michelle and feline friend, Cat.
Karen touched the lives of many in Canada and England with her quick wit and unwavering support. She was the beacon of encouragement, the cheerleader for everyone that crossed her path.
Her love language was spoken through the art of gift giving and her beautifully crafted blankets were a testament to the depth of her affection. If you were a recipient of one of Karen’s creations, know that you held a special place in her heart.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date to honour and celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you honour her memory by extending a hand of friendship – whether over a cup of coffee, supporting loved ones, or simply being there for someone in the way that Karen always was.
While we mourn the loss of Karen, her profound impact on so many lives will endure as a lasting tribute to the incredible person she was.
When I heard of Karen’s passing I immediately remembered her laughter and smiling face, and her intense love for her family. It saddens us that she is gone at such a young age.
