Kunthea Kong

April 4, 1984 - November 8, 2020

It is with tremendous grief that we share the sudden death of our beloved Kunthea, on the evening of November 8, 2020, at the age of 36 by cardiac arrest. First born daughter to Sophorn Langer (Ron) and Kimlong Kong (Socheata Meang). Cherished sister of Toly Kong and Sophea (“Cindy”) Pav. Loved by grandmother (“Yey”) Sopon Pao and grandfather Ly Cheang; uncles, Ly Pheap (Sereyvichet Som), Ly Chey Mom, Ly Cheang Chaut Mom and aunts, Ly Chhun Mom (Adam) and Ly Chhorn Mom (Matt), as well as her many nieces and nephews whom she adored. Thea was an incredibly intelligent and talented woman, who was a pioneer in her family. Born in a refugee camp in Thailand to young parents who escaped the Khmer Rouge genocide in Cambodia. She immigrated as a young child to Canada in 1989, settling first in Strathroy and eventually in London. Thea excelled in academics, especially mathematics, and sports: wrestling, soccer and basketball. She was awarded several scholarships and attended Western University’s School of Engineering for 3 years and Fanshawe’s Engineering Technology Program. Thea had an engineer’s mind for addressing complex technical issues while at the same time she had a deep metaphysical and spiritual sense. She loved her family dearly, and was probably the happiest in the company of her nieces and nephews. We will cherish her memory for the rest of our lives and honour her life and the love she showed to all her family and friends. May her memory be a blessing. A private family visitation and service will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Northview Funeral Chapel, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London. Private interment to follow.

Rest in Peace, Kunthea. We love you forever!

I was very sad to hear that my close friend Thea passed away. Thea and I had a very close spiritual bond. I studied the bible with her for many years. She loved the hope that gods word gave her. I will miss her very much, but I look forward to be reunited in the future in the resurrection to a paradise earth. My deepest sympathy to her family. Lynda Fertile
