Lucille Victoria Burness

August 31, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family shares that Lucille passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024, joining her soulmate Phillip Burness (2023). Lucille leaves behind her two children, Neil (Stacy) and Jayne (Chris), and her grandchildren, Zoe, Haileigh, and Quinton. She is predeceased by her parents Henry and Violet Langham, and brothers Derrick and Ray.

Lucille was born in Peterlee, England, where she spent many years close with her brothers and parents. As the youngest and the only girl, she was doted on by all her family, and often shared stories of her brothers, lovingly calling them “my Derrick and Ray”. She met the love of her life, Phil, early in life. They spent many months at the beginning of their relationship writing back and forth while Phil was at sea with the British Merchant Navy. When he returned, they married young and started their family, immigrating to Canada and living in Come By Chance, Newfoundland, then later in Sarnia, Ontario.

Lucille spent much of her life travelling the world with Phil while they lived in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia and Alexandria, Egypt for over 30 years. Together, they travelled the world two times over before retiring back in Sarnia. Lucille had a passion for visual arts, and spent her later years creating dozens of paintings which decorated their home. In her retirement, Lucille loved caring for the rabbits that lived in their backyard, catching Coronation Street every night, and spending time with grandkids. We are forever grateful that she has been reunited with the love of her life.

Lucille’s family would like to thank the staff of Arbour Trace Memory Care Centre for all the wonderful care they provided over the past year. We would also like to thank everyone at Alzheimer Society of Sarnia Lambton for their care and compassion. If desired, memorial contributions in Lucille’s name to Alzheimer Society of Sarnia Lambton would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
