Margaret “Peggy” Josephine Newman
March 2, 1941 - July 11, 2025
Surrounded by her loving children, we said goodbye to the most fashionable, kind-hearted lady we were lucky enough to call ours—leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and impeccable outfits.
Peggy married the love of her life, Blackie, in 1960, and together they were an inseparable, unstoppable pair. They traveled, laughed, danced, and built a life full of adventure, family, and memories worthy of the most beautiful love story.
Known for her long, curly hair and fabulous wardrobe, Peggy was born with a sewing needle in her hand. She shared her love of fashion, creativity, and talent in every piece she made. Peggy also found great joy and pride in her 33-year career with Canada Post, where she formed many lifelong friendships that brought her laughter, support, and cherished memories.
One of six siblings, Peggy deeply cherished her close bond with her brother and sisters: Frances Flemming, Sylvia (Barrie) Brown, Judy (the late Steve) Huelsman, Marylyn (Ken) Lazarus, and David (Marilyn) Flemming. She never missed a family reunion or the opportunity to travel the world to see them.
Peggy was a proud and loving mother to Dwayne, Laurie (Gary), and Linny, and a cherished grandmother to Wayne (Dallis), Shona (Mike), Brittany (Cory), Stephanie (John), Cortnee, Jayden (Alexa), Ashlynne (Andrew), Dilan, Kira, and Asha. She never missed a chance to spend time with her great-grandchildren—Rylee, Maya, Kai, Lane, Knox, Van, Cohen, Cayne, Ayden, Ole, Andi Mae, Rago, and Ephie—and was overjoyed to hear the news of her 14th great-grandchild on the way. Each of them will surely carry forward her love of fashion and joyful zest for life.
We imagine her now—stitching clouds together, dancing with Blackie, making Heaven just a little more fabulous.
In lieu of flowers, please put on your most fabulous outfit and celebrate with the people you love most.

I had the good fortune to work with Peggy for many years when we were at Canada Post. Peggy had tremendous energy and a flair and style all of her own! We became quite good friends / colleagues. I very much enjoyed going to Pizza Hut with her for the lunch buffet. Peggy took so much pleasure in her family - she was proud of everyone. Peggy, here's to you!
