Marion Cameron (née Heighton)

July 8, 2026

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Marion Cameron (née Heighton) of Thorndale, Ontario, on July 8, 2026, at the age of 73. Marion passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice London, with her devoted husband and beloved daughter by her side, following a short and courageous battle with cancer.

Marion married Terry Cameron in 1974, and together they welcomed their daughter, Jennifer, in 1976 while living in Beausejour, Manitoba. Marion took immense pride in watching Jennifer grow into the remarkable woman she became. While raising her family, Marion pursued her own dream of becoming a registered nurse. She began her nursing career in Kenora, Ontario, where she especially enjoyed caring for geriatric patients, and went on to work in several communities across Ontario. She retired from nursing in 1998 when Terry accepted a position with the United Nations, taking them to the Netherlands, where they made their home for the next fifteen years. It was during this time that Marion’s love of travel truly flourished as she embraced the opportunity to explore Europe and experience new cultures. Even after returning to London, Ontario, she continued to find great joy in travelling and discovering new places.

Marion embraced life wholeheartedly. She loved hosting family and friends, taking long walks, and travelling throughout Europe and Canada. She especially treasured the many adventures she shared with Terry and their lifelong friends, Les and Carole Moore, creating memories and laughter that would last a lifetime. Nothing, however, brought Marion greater happiness than being “Gramma.” She cherished every moment spent with Jennifer and Enrico and adored her grandchildren, Julian, Alexa, and Emery, who were the light of her life and her greatest joy.

Marion will be remembered for her remarkable strength, her kind and welcoming spirit, and her genuine ability to make everyone she met feel valued and cared for. Her warmth, resilience, and zest for life touched countless people and will remain an enduring part of her legacy.

Marion was predeceased by her parents, Ambrose and Marion Heighton; her brother, Amby Heighton; and her sister, Alice Guisso.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 52 years, Terry Cameron; her cherished daughter, Jennifer Stradiotto (Enrico); her treasured grandchildren, Julian, Alexa, and Emery Stradiotto; her sister, Cathy Gillis (Billy); her brothers, Jimmy Heighton (Stacey) and Darrin Heighton; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

In keeping with Marion’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at St. John’s Cemetery, Arva at a later date.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Andrea Mok, Marion’s family physician; the Oncology team at London Health Sciences Centre – Victoria Hospital; and, especially, the compassionate staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice London, whose exceptional care, compassion, and kindness brought comfort to Marion and her family during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice London in Marion’s memory.

Marion’s love, kindness, and adventurous spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she is no longer with us, the memories she created and the lives she touched will remain a lasting gift to her family and friends.

Dear Terry, Jennifer, and family, We were so sorry to hear of Marion's passing. Please know that our thoughts, love, and prayers are with you during this most difficult time. I will always remember the Cameron family gathering at the campground and the wonderful times we all shared together. Those memories of laughter, friendship, and family are ones I will always cherish. Jennifer, you were the light of your mother's life, and then you gave her the precious gift of grandchildren. There is a special place in a grandmother's heart that belongs only to her grandchildren, and Marion's heart was filled to overflowing with love for hers. They brought her such joy, and that love was so evident whenever she spoke of them. May the many happy memories you shared together bring you comfort in the days ahead, and may you find strength in the love of family and friends who surround you. With our deepest sympathy, Blair, Gayle, Philip, Barb, Richard, Bonnie, and their families

Thinking of your family during this time. I teach with Jennifer her daughter and I know what a beautiful, strong woman Marion was and the legacy she leaves behind with Jen and her grandchildren ♥️
