Mary Helen Williams (née Smith, Parsons)

February 14, 2023

On Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 2023, the world lost a beautiful soul, one who made the world a better place. Mary Helen Williams (née Smith, Parsons) daughter of the late John and Annie Smith, died in her 95th year leaving us with her legacy of love. Her daughter Nancy Carson, son Garry Parsons, and daughter-in-law, Cathy (Srokosz) were by her side. She will also be remembered by John and Robert Williams and their families. Mary was a sweet and loving grandma and great-grandma to: Paul and Kim Carson and daughters, Hannah and Brooklynn; Kim Carson and Tricia Riehl; Brad Carson & son Austin; Nicole and Jason Hellyer and sons William and Gavin; Aaron Parsons and Laura-Alexe Marcoux; Ryan Parsons; and Emily and Paul Melloul, and sons Wesley and Malcolm. Mary’s only surviving sibling is Janet Millard from Chatham and she also has many nieces and nephews who adored her. Mary is predeceased by her two husbands, John William (Bill) Parsons (1982) and Thomas (Ross) Williams (2022) and 8 of her 9 siblings: Donald, Gordon, Archie, Inez, Rhea, Martin, Maurice, & Homer.

The Smiths were a family that loved music and Mary was a talented vocalist. Her sense of purpose was fulfilled in her service to others, to her family, to members of her church, and to the various communities in which she lived. She was compassionate, generous, had a quick wit and a spirited sense of humour. Everyone who met her loved her for how she made them feel. We are grateful for the excellence in caring which the staff of Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy provided to both her and Ross during their stay and departure.

A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be conducted at Northview Funeral Chapel and Cremation Centre on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.

For those unable to attend, the family invites you to participate in the service via livestream; please click here:  Livestream for the Celebration of Mary’s Life

My sister, Marie and I, have so many wonderful memories, as little girls, singing in the Inwood United Church choir with Mrs. Parsons. She had a wonderful voice, great laugh and was a very kind person to us. So sorry for your loss.
