When I first met Merv, I liked him: he talked a lot, but he was also engaging and loved to share funny stories. I enjoyed his stories and laughed with him. This was one of his gifts: he made you feel at ease and comfortable around him. One time he shared some of his M & M peanut candies with me - a simple gesture, but one that is meaningful once you knew how much he loved chocolate! I will miss Merv. David Kentner

Brenda, I am so very sorry for your loss. I met Merv once at Memorial Park and I adored him right away. So much fun to be around, a great sense of humour, kind and gentle. Mike and I send our deepest sympathies to Brenda, Merv’s daughter and his extended family. Merv’s presence was very much felt in our lives. Although we did not know him real well, his caring presence spilled over to our significant family members and we are forever grateful. What a wonderful legacy he left behind. A great humanitarian- someone to look up to and aspire to be. May you fly high Merv- and continue to live your dream.

I was so fortunate to have such amazing conversations with him when our families met up. He was such a great person. I am so devastated by his passing. My genuine love to you Brenda and to your family. I think my fondest memory was at a party to celebrate his brother in law, someone fell outside. Merv immediately got up and went outside to support and help this person. A true caring and loving person all the time. I was in awe of him at that moment.
