Michelle Fitzgerald
September 6, 2025
Michelle Fitzgerald of London, at the age of 59 years, passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital, on Saturday, September 6, 2025. Beloved wife of Shawn Fitzgerald for 27 years. Loving mother of Jennifer, Daniel, and Jacob. Adored Gam Gam (Grandma) of Allison and Maggie May. Dear sister of John Schmuck (Julie), Susan Schmuck (Steve), and Jo-Ann Hill (Kevin). Predeceased by her parents John and Eleanor Schmuck. Also loved by her many nieces and nephews.
Michelle always put others ahead of herself. She loved to take care of others. She volunteered in the community preparing food for the homeless luncheons, serving at the public school breakfast program, coaching t-ball as examples. When the rhubarb was ripe, she would make strawberry/rhubarb pies for neighbours and friends. She couldn’t wait for rhubarb season! She also created wonderful butter tarts to share too. Michelle had a number of health struggles but never complained about them. She showed immense strength and courage. She was an inspiration!
“Kind and thoughtful person”, “Special to me”, “Always had a smile on her face”, “Loved to laugh”. These are some of the many compliments friends are making about Mitch.
Michelle could talk to anyone. She found value in speaking to people and finding out about them. She never backed down from a challenging situation, and took it head on.
Her love of her children, grandchildren, and husband was unmatched. If she could attend events she would, including; concerts, football games, volleyball games, and family get togethers. Her love of chocolate covered licorice kept local candy stores in business. Family looked forward to special occasions just so we could get a bite of her cheeseball. She aired her grievances with the help of fishing nets, and she always said what was on her mind. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she touched- and it was many.
Michelle’s family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Sanjay Mehta and his Respirology team for their support, wisdom and kindness shown to Michelle and Shawn for the past 9 yrs.
Cremation has taken place. Michelle’s Life will be Celebrated at Northview Funeral Chapel and Cremation Centre, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A private interment of cremated remains will take place at Woodland Cemetery. I was vey saddened to hear the news of Michelles passing ( Gorgeous, as I called her) as I had just spoken with her days before. She will be remembered as the person who was willing to do anything for you, if she was able. We often chatted, she would update me on her life and she a listening ear if I needed to vent or not. We would go on small road trips together, as sometimes that was our only time to chat. I will truly miss our times together. I know that she is at peace in heaven, looking down on her family that she was always so proud of. Thank you for being a ray of sunshine in my life. I will miss the laughs and smiles. Shawn, Jennifer, Daniel and Jacob, you truly had an amazing wife and mother. Brenda and Family
Michelle and I went to school together for many years, St Lawrence Catholic School and then on to Montcalm High School. Michelle was a kind funny girl, always a good student and willing to help with homework. It’s wonderful to see that she was the same kind loving woman that I knew throughout our school years. Michelle was blessed with a loving family, she will be remembered fondly. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family and many friends.
