Muriel Porter

April 17, 2023

On Monday, April 17th, 2023, in her 100th year, Muriel Porter passed gently into the nearer presence of the Saviour she loved so well. Beloved wife of the late James Porter. Loving mother of Nancy Johnston (Bob) of Kemptville and David Porter (Lisa) of London.  Treasured ‘Nana’ of her four grandchildren Michael Johnston (Jennifer) of Amherstburg, Sarah Johnston-Way (Rod) of Ottawa and Brittany and Dylan (London). Cherished ‘Great Nana’ of four great-grandchildren Maggie, Isla, Charlie and Finnick. Among her many gifts Muriel possessed steadfast faith, generosity, friendship, hospitality and neighbourliness. Gardening and painting were her favourite pastimes.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., 2 hours prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023 at the Highbury Avenue Gospel Hall, 1196 Highbury Ave. N., London. Interment will be at Medway Cemetery, 10th Concession, Arva. A reception will follow the interment at Highbury Gospel Hall.

Dear Dave, Lisa & the extended Porter Families: Our thoughts & prayers are with you as you mourn the loss of your mom. May memories of happy times together keep her alive in your hearts. Terri & Paul Clark (Pieter & Noreen De Vlugt’s daughter & Bette (2014) & Al (2019) Clark’s son)

Every Sunday Mrs Porter drove into the Huron complex to pick up children for Sunday School. She engaged in conversation with many moms. She enlisted others with vehicles to help. Mr Porter even had to buy a Robert Q van to help. Her vision resulted in children coming from Boulle, Kipps Lane, Oakville, to name a few other locations. We loved to help her and the children’s work.

Thank you for taking care of me when I was little. It was nice having a ‘sister’ Nancy for a few years. You will be sadly missed but loved and remembered always.
