Murray John Cousins

June 14, 1956 - February 17, 2021

On February 17, 2021 at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, Murray Cousins in his 65th year. Murray is survived by his wife Sharen; daughter Brandi Rowland and her husband, Mark and their son, Luka; daughter Nikki Jackson and her two children, Noah and Liam; son Josh Cousins and his wife Natalie and their daughter, Maren.

We were extremely blessed to have a such great team around us! Dr. Aric Sudicky, there are no words to express our gratitude. You were in our corner fighting every step of the way. Your care and compassion are what every doctor should aspire to. Nurse Jody, Respiratory Therapist Julia, Oxygen Jody and PSW Wanda – Murray looked so forward to seeing you every week. A special thank you to Nicole, the 2nd floor nurse at STEGH for your unparalleled compassion. Thanks to all of you for making a difference and going the extra mile!

You didn’t like attention and you never looked for praise,

You grumbled at the weather, except for sunny days!

Your gardens were your refuge, tending each with loving care,

Challenged by the white-tailed deer that chewed your fruit trees bare!

It was always great with kids all home, until it got too loud,

You slipped away for a place to hide but I know they made you proud!

We made travel memories near and far and boy we had some fun,

Each one unique in its own way, I cannot pick just one.

Our lives were etched together, some with laughter, some with tears,

Would we change some things…yes maybe…not the blessed 48 years!

God saw that you were weary so He gave you peace and rest.

And for the time we had together, we were ALL so truly blessed!

Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please consider mailing a cheque in memory of Murray to the Belmont Community Park, P.O. Box 128, Belmont, ON N0L 1B0 or call 519-644-0841. To leave an online condolence, please click the the Tribute Wall button to the left of the obituary.

Sharon and Family, We are so sorry for your loss of Murray. Terri remembers very well all the afternoons spent bowling with you and the the ladies' lodge. It's been a long time since I saw Murray....the old London Knights barn where we used to watch the game every Friday night. We had many great moments and a few terrible ones with the teams they put on the ice. But we always had a great camaraderie together. It's so long ago when we were at Westminster Central and then Laurier that all the memories run together into a giant blur. But I remember the Friday Knights like it was yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Don and Terri Hogg

Really sorry to hear about Murrays' passing. My thoughts go out to your family. What a true bringer of wit and joy he was. Spent the last few years of high school and many afterwards as friends with him and Sharron. I know my mother Evelyn Williams never regretted giving him his chance at Parkholme Hospital and she always appreciated his work ethic and well needed humour.
