Peter van Tol of London, Ontario, passed away on April 25, 2024 at Parkwood Institute at the age of 80. Beloved husband of 57 years to Marianne van Tol-Lindstrom. Loving father of Jolanda Squire (Phil), Richard (Magreet) and Karel (Ursula). Cherished Opa to Jacob, Kendra, Owen, Olivia, Emma and Lyne. Predeceased by his fraternal twin brother, Alphonsus. Peter and Alphons were born in the Netherlands on February 28, 1944 and were the sons of the late Petrus Jacobus Maria van Tol and Cornelia Antonia Maria van Tol-Wouters. Peter spent 22 years at London Health Science Centre until his retirement as Coordinator of Electrical and Technical Services in 2006. Peter enjoyed traveling with Marianne and spent much of his later years relaxing and enjoying life. He will be remembered for his kind heart and humour that he shared with friends and family. Cremation has taken place and a visitation service will be held on Wednesday, May 1st, 2024 between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. at Northview Funeral Chapel, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London. The funeral mass will be held at St. Francis-St. Martin’s Parish, 46 Cathcart Street, London, on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. An additional celebration of life will be held at a later date. Remembrances may be made to Diabetes Canada or to Parkwood Institute through St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation.

Pete was my dad's best friend. They went to London Knights hockey games for a good 25 year together. I saw Pete there for the last time on Dec 2, 2022, it was my birthday. We have known the VanTol family for close to 50 years. Our condolences go out to all of you, Marianne, Jolanda, Richard and Karel. Pete will be missed. :(

It was a privilege to know Peter over the years. His kind manner and timeless humour will be missed by all. He was a good soul and wonderful family man who touched those around him with his authentic love of life. Prayers for Peter and the entire family. May he rest in peace and walk with angels.
