Rufine Amouzou-Kodjo

January 11, 1974 - June 12, 2020

We are deeply saddened to report the passing of Rufine on June 12, 2020. It is a heartfelt loss to her husband Adama Ajavon (Raoul) and her sons Rayan, Rodrigue and Risto.

Born January 11, 1974 in Lomé, Togo, she is the daughter of Amouzou-Kodjo Kokou Antoine and Meyevi Gbeassor; and sister to Amouzou-Kodjo Auguste, Amouzou-Kodjo Eric, Amouzou-Kodjo Martin, Amouzou-Kodjo André, Amouzou-Kodjo Pascal, Amouzou-Kodjo Antoinette, Amouzou-Kodjo Nadia, Amouzou-Kodjo cloclo. She will also be sadly missed by her step-mother Ayite Clarisse Rita, many nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law.

Rufine grew up in Lomé, the capital of Togo, with her family before moving to Germany for study. After 7 years in Germany, she left for Ireland to live with her husband Adama where they had their three children, Rayan, Rodrigue and Risto. She then decided to move with her husband to Canada to raise their kids. Rufine was a very caring, supportive and open-hearted person. She devoted her life to working with kids, which was why she started her career in the field of childhood education in Ireland, and then continued in Canada: respectively with Garderie Étoile de Lachine (Montréal-Quebec), Garderie les petits trésors de Lasalle (Montreal-Quebec) et Garderie la Pommeraie (London-Ontario).

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday the 20th of June 2020 followed by cremation.

Given the health situation we live in, the celebration of the life of our dear Rufine will unfortunately take place in the presence of the family only. We are aware that your prayers are with us.

A very special thank you to the nurses, PSWs, support staff and cleaners who provided care and compassion.
