Peacefully with family by her side at her home on Thursday, February 2, 2023, Shirley Sands of London, passed away in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late Stephen Sands (2021) for 60 years. Dear mother of Shari-Lee Knott (John), the late Stephen Sands (1981), and Sean Sands (Jennifer). Loving Grandma of Amber-Lee Beattie (James), Stephen Knott (Theresa), Scott Sands, Nicole Sands (Jamie), Samantha Sands, and Great Grandma to Lochlan, Ruairi, Niamh, and Keeley. Predeceased by her sister Heather, and parents Evadel and Allan McGill.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial reception will be held at Northview Funeral Chapel and Cremation Centre, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London, on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with remembrances to be given at 3:00 p.m.

Our sincere condolences to the family. Shirley always had kind words to say whenever our paths crossed. Shirley will be missed by all.
We were neighbours of the Sands for ten years and remained close friends with Shirley, Steve and their children for over 50 years. My sincere condolences to the family.

Sending my condolences to your family with the loss of your wonderful Mom. Your Mom and Dad along with the McGill family, were family friends of my parents Colby and Florence Shaw. I last saw your Mom when she stopped my parents house by the cemetery in 2021. Your Dad was the DJ at my wedding. Both your parents were wonderful people. Cherish the memories made in your time together.

Shirley was strong, courageous, lovely, and always a smile on her face especially when she was around her family and while dancing with Stephen at the many functions we attended. May she rest in peace.

I was so sorry to read this sad news but how wonderful that your Mother lived a long life. I got to know your parents through the death of my brother, Gerry Buck and your brother Steve. I was so very sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. She never mentioned that she was ill, even though we had kept in touch over the years. She was a sweet and lovely person, and I loved her. Sincerely, Betty
A true saint of a woman. I'm a better man just to have been in her presence. She will truly be missed but so fondly remembered.
She looks so happy in that photo walking maybe in Ireland? Very sorry for your family’s loss , she was a big part of your lives and will be missed I remember her being at every get together at. Dear Shari and Sean: I am sorry to hear about your mom's passing. Your parents were beautiful role models in my early years. Many a good time was had at your house and your parents were true adventurers heading off to Australia before it was hip to do so. Thinking of you and your families during this time. Love, Robin.
