Terence “Terry” Wright

July 26, 1953 - April 21, 2026

At Victoria Hospital, in the quiet early hours of Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in his 73rd year, Terry Frederick Wright was called home to Heaven. His cousin and very close friend Will Macdonald as well as father-in-law Bernard Demers were surely there to welcome him at Heaven’s Gate.

Terry was the only son of the late Frederick and Marion Wright, who he adored.  She referred to him as the apple of her eye.  Terry was the devoted and loving husband of Lorraine (Demers) for over 36 years, a partnership built on deep love, loyalty, and unity. He was a proud and caring father to Michael (Caitlyn) and Chantale (Glenn), and an adoring grandfather to Levi, Warren, Joel, Brielle, Neil, Ruby, and Kaiden. He held a special excitement in his heart for the newest little grandson, soon to arrive.

He will be dearly missed by his sisters Cherie (Arend) and Valerie (John), along with their families, as well as his cherished Aunt Charmaine and her family. Terry will be lovingly remembered by his mother-in-law Marcelle, her sister Rosange, his brother-in-law Don, sister-in-law Fran, and their families.

He was an intelligent man whose curiosity in life and about the world never faded. He had an endless thirst for knowledge and a gift for sharing what he learned, often sparking meaningful conversations with anyone willing to engage, and inspiring those around him.  He always had a song lyric that related at the ready, a movie line or a joke to make you feel at ease, or a piece of wisdom picked up along the way to share. A man with a sharp wit and excellent sense of humour, a conversation with Terry always left you thinking and feeling positively.

A hardworking and determined man, Terry successfully ran a business for many years before taking his own advice and continuing education, earning his full A certificate as a building inspection official through George Brown College. His passion for learning continued at Fanshawe College, where he pursued various courses—including advanced Spanish, a language he was determined to learn after falling in love with South America, visiting on a few occasions.

In life’s next chapter, Terry became a reliable rural and suburban mail contractor with Canada Post, serving faithfully for over eight years. His kindness brought special connections with his customers along his route. He loved to occasionally share special interactions and funny stories.

Terry found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. Swimming and barbecuing for the family in the summer, or cheering on his beloved Montreal Canadiens in the winter. He loved music and playing his guitar, enjoyed adventures in his Miata, and cherished time surrounded by family. His presence brought warmth, laughter, and light wherever he went.

Above all, Terry will be remembered for the way he lived—with strength, positivity, humour, and unwavering perseverance. Remaining positive, he demonstrated great courage working through health challenges the last few years.

He touched countless lives through his wisdom, his kindness, and his deep love for others. To those who knew him, he was not only an inspiration, but a true hero in everyday life.

Though we grieve his loss, we find comfort in knowing he is at peace in the presence of the Lord.  As his beloved artist, John Lennon, once wrote, “Love is all you need”. His love, laughter, and unwavering spirit will be forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
