Tjeerdtje “Terry” Jantina Hendrika Heyda

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Nanny and Great-Nan, Tjeerdtje Jantina Hendrika Heyda, of London, in her 80^th year, on November 18, 2025, at L.H.S.C. University Hospital, London.

Terry was born in Holland and immigrated to Canada as a young girl.  From her early years she was known for her generosity, and unwavering support for those around her.

Terry’s family was truly the center of her world, and she poured her heart into every generation.  She always put the needs of others before her own, whether it was a warm meal, a comforting word, or a helping hand, she made every day brighter for those she loved. Her wisdom guided us, and her love gave us strength.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie and son-in-law, Keith Donovan, her cherished grandchildren, Nicole Donovan (Chris), Sarah Yule (Dylan), Eric Donovan, and her precious great grandchildren, Myles and Maeve – who brought immense joy and pride.  Also survived by her son Martin Foster and his family. Fondly remembered by her brothers, Henk Heyda, Tim Heyda (Lisa), sister-in-law Sandra (Peter) Heffren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Jan and Meintje Heyda and brothers Fred Heyda and John Heyda.

Terry was retired after a career as an I.C.U. Unit Secretary, a role in which she offered calm, compassion, and steady guidance to patients, families and staff.  Her ability to stay composed during difficult moments and her genuine care for others made her an invaluable part to the I.C.U. team.

Outside of work she found pleasure in scrapbooking, cross-stitching, sewing, and baking her famous chocolate chip cookies; but her heart was always fullest when she was spending time with the people, she loved the most.

She will be remembered for her kind spirit, her trusting nature, and her stubborn streak. She never hesitated to speak her mind and offer her opinion. Her love was steady and unwavering.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Northview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 1490 Highbury Avenue North, London from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.  Friends and family are invited to gather in celebration of her life and to share their memories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that her love will live on in each of us through the stories shared, the values she instilled, and the love she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and forever held in our hearts.
