Wilhelmina “Wilma” Maria Rensen (née Peters)

January 11, 2024

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Wilma Rensen, on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the age of 89.  There are no words to express the depth of love for our mother.  She was an amazing lady of deep faith who always cared for others.

Wilma’s laughter and wisdom will be dearly missed by her children, Yvonne (Garry) and Andrew (Melissa).  She is predeceased by her husband, Harry (2022), her parents, Franciscus and Wilhelmina, her siblings Anneke, Francine, Jos, Harry, Toon, Wim, Frans, Jan, and her grandchild, Jacob.

Wilma enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including a good cup of coffee, a long walk or bike ride with Harry, and time spent with family and friends.

A special thank you to the staff at Kensington Village and to Dr. Whynot.

Friends are invited to join the family on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. for a mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, with visitation beginning one hour prior at 9:30 a.m.  A private interment will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery and Holy Family Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favourite charity or perform an act of kindness.

Your cheerful grin, your heart of gold,

You were the best this world could hold,

Never selfish, always kind,

These are the memories you leave behind.

While you sleep a peaceful sleep,

Fond memories of you we will always keep.

No verse, no flowers, no tears can say,

How much we will miss you every day.

Our condoleances. Yvonne and Garry, Andy and Melissa, we always will remember tante Mientje as a sweet and very kind person and interested in other people.

The Rensens were good friends and neighbours for our family in Thorndale, from my earliest memories. They were extra special as they were so helpful to our mom, when she had foster children, and would help with their special care when needed. For years, we would meet the Rensens at the Quarry in St Marys on the weekends, as our family loved swimming as much as they did! Mrs Rensen taught me how to dive there. Mrs Rensen was always calm, kind and gentle. Heaven can celebrate that she is there now, with her loving husband, and all those who preceded her. May happy memories comfort you at this sad time.

Our deepest condolences go out to Wilma's family. A wonderful human being has left a major impact on a lot of people. Wilma's smile lit up the neighbourhood each time she ventured outside. Wilma and Harry were the epitome of an elder married couple and an inspiration for all young couples. They are now together again with their Friend Jesus in paridise. God bless both of them. I have known Wilma for almost 50 years. She was an absolutely wonderful person. Her kindness towards everyone she met is something we should all be striving to emulate. This world will miss her .

Dear Yvonne, Andrew and Families, I was extremely saddened last week to hear of the passing of your Mom. Two of the brightest "Beams of Light" have gone from the Kensington Family. I visit room 225 twice a week, and could not resist the pull of your parents friendliness and charm. Wilma would wave with great pleasure from across the activity room and then delight in any opportunity to hear Harry's name spoken. They both were smiling and happy regardless of their circumstance. Even with her diminished abilities, Wilma's entire being glowed at the mention of her family. I will miss her infectious smile and energetic waves. Keep all of the warm and loving memories of your Mom (and Dad) close to your hearts and they will never be far away. Although I only had the pleasure of spending time with your parents briefly, they will be missed deeply. You are kept in my thoughts and prayers. Bill Morton & Rob Martin (Room 225)

I have had the pleasure of knowing Wilma for the past 30+ years. She was my second mom and I admired her kind giving heart. I can honestly say I never once witnessed or heard any negative comments from her towards any one person. She gave everything of herself to her family, her friends, and her church, until she was no longer able and even later, during her time in the nursing home she was adored by residents and staff. You leave behind some beautiful memories Wilma that I will cherish until my dying day. I will always love you, xo.... May you now rest in peace and join your husband, your grandchild, and the many other angels in heaven. <3
